Violence against Women and girls includes:

Domestic Abuse

Domestic Abuse is a pattern of controlling, coercive, threatening, degrading and or violent behaviour, including sexual violence/rape, by a partner or ex-partner, someone with whom a person is or has been in a relationship with.

Rape and Sexual Assault

Under the definition of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009, rape is defined as:

Stalking & Harassment

Stalking is a crime under Scottish law and is an offence against the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010 Section 39.

Child Sexual Abuse

This is when a child or young person is sexually abused, they're forced or tricked into sexual activities and may not understand what's happening is abuse or that it's wrong. Sexual abuse can happen anywhere, in person or online.

Commercial Sexual Exploitation

Commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) includes a wide range of often linked sexual activities which (typically) men profit from or buy from women and which objectify and harm women.

"Honour" Crimes

Honour-based crimes are violent crimes or other forms of abuse that are carried out in order to protect the so-called 'honour' of a family or community.

Forced Marriage

A forced marriage is one in which either or both people involved don't consent or cannot give consent, to the marriage, as they are pressurised, or abuse is used, to force them to do so.

Female Genital Mutilation

Female genital mutilation (FGM) is a collective term involving the cutting, or partial or total removal of the external female genitalia for cultural, religious or other non-medical reasons.
