Fire and smoke alarms: changes to the law- what you need to know

Scottish Governments law on fire and carbon monoxide detection in Scotland changed on 1st February 2022. This means that all homes in Scotland now need to have interlinked alarms. These are some of the most frequently asked questions around the new legislation and what it means for anyone with heat and carbon monoxide alarms provided by West Lothian Councils Home Safety Service .

Fire and smoke alarms, changes to the law

Scottish Governments law on fire and carbon monoxide detection in Scotland changed on 1st February 2022.  This means that all homes in Scotland now need to have interlinked alarms.  If you have telecare smoke, heat and carbon monoxide alarms provided by West Lothian Councils Home Safety Service, these are in addition to the interlinked alarms.
