West Lothian Children's Rights Working Group
A strategic working group was established in 2022 to coordinate activity around children's rights in West Lothian. The group is co-chaired by the Senior Manager for Children and Families and Justice Services and the Community Learning and Development Youth Services Manager.
The working group reports directly into the Children and Families Strategic Planning Group and is responsible for taking forward the priority of 'promoting children's rights' as outlined in the Children's Services Plan. A Children's Rights Action Plan has been developed to achieve this. The group is also responsible for developing the three-yearly Unite Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child report, a Scottish Government requirement under the Unite Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024.
